Rules

Rule status - Mostly complete

General Rules
Rules are fairly well set; changes may occur on a majority vote.

1) Be respectful.
Everyone has to share the sandbox*, so let's not piss in it, 'kay? If you have issues with players, hit me up and I'll assign someone to help you work things out. (I'm not the people person. I'm the dictator).

2) Be timely.
Depending on who you are threading with, if you do not respond to your tag in a reasonable amount of time, you will be skipped. Reasonable varies per player, as does the level of prodding.

3) Label, label, label, and tag, tag, tag.
If you start a thread, tag it and make sure the rating is posted. If the rating changes throughout the post, please update it as soon as possible.

4) Your character is yours. Their character is not yours. Please don't play their character.
If discussed with a player beforehand, you may take minor liberties with their character, such as assuming the character is following if they agreed to follow. Do not assume anything about another character's reaction to your character's action, even if it seems that the reaction you dictated would be natural and IC for them.

5) OCs are available to established players only.
While NPCs are all OCs, you cannot have an OC as your first character. You must have an active, established canon character first. If you are bringing in an OC from a canon universe, acceptance will be delayed while I speak with the players of characters from that 'verse.

6) Character limit is set at 5 to start, not including NPCs.
Depending on activity levels and your availability, this may be raised. This will be a case-by-case basis, and if you cannot keep up with all your characters, you may be asked to drop one or two.

7) Announce hiatuses.
You're moving to college. You're going on vacation to Europe. You're going to ComicCon. You're going in for surgery. You won't be at the computer for a week or more. Let us know. Make an announcement in the OOC community, along with an estimated time of return.

Posting Rules
These are rules, too.

1) Cut anything questionable.
Touchy topics, adult themes, graphic violence, and swearing need to be behind a LJ cut, and appropriately labeled so those not interested in reading can skip it. The post header should also reflect the rating of the post; this should be updated as the rating changes (deja-vu? This is an important rule).

2) Post headers should have the following information:
- Character involved
- Open, closed between [characaters], open but encouraging [character]
- Location / Time / Date
- Rating
- Invasion (do you mind someone butting in?)
- Notes (if there are any extra notes about this thread, plot, intention, expected rating, etc)
- Summary (to be filled in after the post is completed)

You can find a generic heading on the community profile page

3) Your character journal - whatever form the actual device takes - is linked to all the other character journals.
It's sort of like livejournal for characters. Fairly standard among journal games, I think.

4) [info]dauphinmare / [info]riverfell are for posts.
All threads and completed logs belong here. Journal entries do not.

5) [info]dauphin_ooc / [info]riverfell_ooc is for us.
Get to know your fellow players. Chat, plot, vent, it's all good.

6) Multiple characters, multiple journals?
If you want to cram all your pups into one journal, be my guest. You simply have to ensure you have at least one icon to represent each of them. If you want to keep each character in their own journal, that's fine too. It is strongly suggested you set a non-character specific icon as your default if you have multiple characters to a journal, in case you forget to select an icon for the comment.

7) Multiple games, one journal?
If and only if there are no complications or issues, and everything must be labeled, tagged, and cut. If confusion repeatedly blooms, we may resort to a DM specific journal system.

Suggestions
What it sounds like. They aren't rules, but they're encouraged behaviors.

1) Communicate.
If you're going to be laggy. If you're going to be away from the computer. If the weather forecasts t-storms and you think your power might go out. Let us know, and if at all possible, let the other people you're threading with know how to handle your character in your absence if it turns extensive.

2) Track, track, track.
Track the communities. Track threads you're involved in. Track threads you might want to become involved in. Check the communities for updates. Make sure everything's friended that should be friended.

3) Plot. Develop characters. Have fun!
In time, there may be an overall plot for this community. In the meantime, interact. Please don't play only with characters from your character's fandom; it defeats the point of a panfandom game.

4) Put your profile somewhere visible.
Putting your profile in the "bio" section of LJ's profile is appreciated. Using the one you applied with is fine. Links to webpages (that you wrote; not a generic writeup on the character, or a wiki link) are also acceptable.

5) Unwelcome thread invasion is unwelcome.
If a thread is ongoing, even if it still says "open" in the header, check with the players to make sure your intrusion isn't unwelcome. This is mostly an issue if the thread looks to be particularly intense, and your character is somewhat out of place barging in.

* Sandbox refers to the game. As in, "I hate your sandbox, I'm going to join a different one."
